History
The Vriezenveen’s company Bakkerij Holland has been active since 1937. In that year Hendrikus Holland started, together with his wife, a small traditional bakery. In that time he was just one of the many bakers in our village. Typically, Bakkerij Holland started out with a traditional carrier-tricycle and a little shop on the village street, just as many other bakers also started.
Soon Hendrikus’ entrepreneurial talents began to show as he realized that if he wanted to survive between all those other bakers, then he must distinguish himself. So de decided to bake in a production-line, which for that time was really revolutionary.
Bread made by machines
Bread made by machines? “You can’t do that” were the first, rather restrained, reactions…
Quickly, it became apparent that this actually worked very well. Through the production-line producing of bread Bakkerij Holland could be cheaper than the other bakeries, while still keeping the high quality of the bread.
From father to son
In the year 1968, the current owner Leo Holland came to work by his father in the business. He was quickly inspired by the innovative vision of his father Hendrikus. Thereupon, Hendrikus Holland and his son Leo decided to work together further in this new way. They looked for more sales channels, as through the years the production capacity of the company had considerably increased.
The search for more customers quickly produced success. Various supermarkets saw that competition is based not only on quality, but also on price. Therefore they needed to find a suitable baker. They found this in Bakkerij Holland and their number of customers quickly increased.
After the passing away of Hendrikus Holland, Leo Holland and his wife carried on alone. They continued in the same way as Leo’s father began and even until today they have kept to this strategy.
In 1998 son Herry Holland came, with his wife, to work by his father in the company.
New production locations
Bakkerij Holland continued to grow as constantly more retail trade companies came to father and son Holland. Again, the production was considerably increased, which caused Bakkerij Holland in 1999 to need bigger premises.
A new production location was needed. This location was quickly found, in Roosendaal. The same year this second, bakery was opened, so that Bakkerij Holland now has two completely automated bakeries suitable to guarantee the high quality bread for a relatively low price.
In 2006 a new production location was opened for the production of bake-off products and specialities.
BRC accreditation
Since 2009, the bakery has in addition BRC accreditation, so that the company is accredited to produce guaranteed hygienic and safe food products.
